Disney Plus free trial - everything you need to know in 2021

Looking to see if you can find a Disney Plus free trial? That's fair enough - it's always a good idea to try a streaming service before signing on the dotted line for a standard monthly subscription, particularly because there are so many alternatives out there right now.

Unfortunately, we've got some bad news. You see, the Disney Plus free trial isn't available anymore in the USA, UK, or Canada. The situation isn't a total bust, though. A single month of the service is surprisingly cheap at $7.99 / £7.99 / CA$11.99 / AU$11.99. In addition, you're able to cancel whenever you like. That means you can take the Disney streaming service for a spin, blaze through some movies and TV shows, and then get rid of your membership before it rolls over to a second month. That's probably the cheapest option now that the trial is gone.

And hey, while it's a shame that the Disney Plus free trial isn't as widely available now as it was last year, the monthly fee is still pretty great in terms of value - it's the price of a few coffees. With that in mind, we've gone into greater detail about the latest prices and packages available in each country below. Alternatively, you can head on over to the Disney Plus website and give it a go yourself. That should give you a good taste of what the service is offering.

For everyone that can't get hold of the Disney Plus free trial, we'd also recommend looking into Disney Plus bundles. They're very affordable, and some throw in other streaming services as a combo deal. As an example, US readers can get Disney Plus, Hulu, and ESPN Plus for $13.99 a month. For context, that's roughly the same cost as a Standard HD month of Netflix for triple the amount of content.

No matter the offer, there's plenty of exciting new content on the way

Want even better value for money? You can currently get a version of the Disney Plus, Hulu, and ESPN Plus deal without Hulu ads for $19.99. Considering how annoying some of those ads can be, being able to get rid of them is very much appreciated.

No matter the offer, there's plenty of exciting new content on the way. Besides over a dozen new Star Wars and Marvel shows, we're also getting a raft of original movies like an Enchanted sequel over the next year or so. In addition, subscribers in the UK, Canada, and Australia have access to mature content like Family Guy for the first time (though it's protected behind parental controls, should you need them).

Can you still get a Disney Plus free trial?

The Disney Plus free trial was taken down last year in most countries around the world (the US, UK, Canada, and Australia no longer have access to it unless a secondary merchant is promoting a bundle offer), and only a few territories are still able to enjoy it today. That disappearance tells you everything you need to know about how popular Disney Plus is. The company clearly doesn't need a trial to entice potential customers.

Disney Plus free trials are still available in certain regions, though. It generally tends to be countries that haven't had the streaming service for very long, and sometimes those trial periods are longer than usual. Namely, Japan has access to a full 31-day free trial (!).

The countries that can still get a Disney Plus free trial are:

  • Argentina
  • Bolivia
  • Brazil
  • Chile
  • Colombia
  • Costa Rica
  • Mexico
  • Peru
  • Japan

With the service launching in Hong Kong, Singapore, and South Korea at some point this year, we expect users over there will get a Disney Plus free trial as well.

Will the Disney Plus free trial come back?

Wondering if and when the Disney Plus free trial will return? We are too, but we couldn't count on a reappearance any time soon. Disney Plus is doing very well for itself without a free trial, so there's no incentive to change that... for now, anyway.

That may change, of course, and we can see the Disney Plus free trial having an encore during promotional pushes (maybe during the Holiday season). But the odds aren't great even so. Disney seems content to rely on a stream of original content to reel in audiences instead, and there's more than enough on the way to pique interest for even the most belligerent viewer. Whether it's The Book of Boba Fett series or a Black Panther spinoff show focusing on Wakanda, there's plenty of headline-grabbing must-watches on the way.

And hey, anyone that decides to invest without a Disney Plus free trial won't find their bank balance suffering too much. Viewers in the US are able to pick up a single month of the service for $7.99, while Canadians and Australians can get in on the action for $11.99 per month. As for UK subscribers, they only need to pay £7.99p/m.

Cheesed off that the Disney Plus free trial is gone? Don't worry, it's not a total disaster. Disney Plus itself is surprisingly affordable, and there are plenty of deals available to get you the service for less. We've listed the latest offers below.

Because these prices increased at the beginning of 2021, they should stay pretty stable for the next year or so.
